Big Archery Weekend 2014/2015

Six Towns Company of Archers participated in another Big Archery Weekend. The club was opened in February 2014 by like minded archers who believe that archery should be available to all regardless of age and supporting the latest coaching techniques. The member base has now exceeded 45 with a large percentage of these being juniors. With great teamwork members introduced over 100 people to archery over the two days, some who stayed for the day!

Children as young as 4 were encouraged to pop balloons, shoot stars for prizes and join in with the light refreshments, buffet and BBQ. In the week building up to the 2014 event, Six Towns had been contacted by the local BBC radio who asked if they could broadcast from our event as part of their sporting Saturdays. This was a great way of promoting both a new club and archery within Staffordshire and the presenter even popped a balloon with her first arrows! All who joined us had the opportunity to try recurve, longbow and flat bow both outdoor and indoor and to spend time talking with club members who were also shooting alongside.

The interest received from everyone who came along was very positive, with most people taking advantage of the special offers available on the day and signing up for more.

Six Towns Co of Archers already offer Have a go's every Saturday and Sunday mornings and Wedbesday evenings and run continuous beginners courses, from the age of 5yrs, thanks to our full time coaching staff. We believe that we can offer many more people the chance to participate and enjoy target archery.

Six Towns Co of Archers are looking forward to participating in the next Big Archery Weekend.
